Southern Food Trail
Journey south of the Great Dividing Range descending from Toowoomba to the fertile plains of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, 147 kilometres on the Southern Food Trail.
Karina Griffiths, of Brisbane, loves nothing more than making the most of the glorious Queensland Spring weather and adventuring to the country. On the weekends she loves to escape the city, hit the open road and explore the quaint country towns and villages of South East Queensland. Her Spring destination of choice? Karina’s favourite Saturday spot of course, the beautiful town of Esk.
Esk is one of several rural towns recently added to Queensland’s Super Electric Highway, connecting electric vehicle drivers across Queensland with fast charging locations to a range of coastal and inland locations. The Esk charging station is located conveniently on Pryde St in Esk, making it a breeze for electric vehicle owners like Karina to recharge while on the go in Somerset.
“I’ve always loved a daytrip to Esk, and now with the EV chargers, I can make a night of it, stay the whole weekend and explore all my favourite spots in Somerset”, says Karina.
With cafes, pubs, gift stores, Saturday markets, country races, cultural events and more, Esk is a little town with a lot to offer. This is a sentiment shared by visitors like Karina. “I love the Saturday morning markets, browsing through the antique and gift shops and stopping for coffee and cake at a café”, says Karina.
“Last weekend, we tried out the new glamping safari tents at the Esk Caravan Park, went to the Esk Country Races and recharged our caffeine-o-metre the next morning at the Brisbane Valley Roasters. We had the best time and can’t wait to come back to explore more of Somerset”.
So, if you, like Karina, have recently joined the electric vehicle movement, country is calling in Somerset. Stop, stay and savour the moment in Esk, the perfect town to relax and recharge your batteries. Pun intended.
