Goomburra
Araucaria Falls track, Main Range National Park
Discover the spectacular beauty of the Araucaria Falls, on this short track flanked by lush subtropical rainforest in the Goomburra section of Main Range National Park, Wind gracefully along a gully lined with brush box and gently climb to this small but spectacular waterfall. Cross the creek at the top before descending sharply to the deep pool below. The waterfall is named after the towering hoop pines that line the track. As you sit by the pool, surrounded by lush subtropical rainforest, think back to when hoop pine was logged in the Goomburra area. Now only a few old trees remain, standing tall over the surrounding canopy. As you return along the same track, see if you can spot any of these ancient survivors. This park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, famed for its ongoing geological processes, evolutionary history, and diversity (especially of rare, threatened and endemic species).
